CINDY: Hi I'm Cindy Lietz from "Look What I Drawed!" KidArt Company and we're here today at West Point Grey Academy.

TITLE BAR TEXT: Christina Mears, Arts and Performing Director, West Point Grey Academy.

CINDY: I have Christina Mears here with me. She is the Arts and Performing Director at West Point Grey Academy.

CINDY: She has been working with her students to get the drawings that we need for the bear. I think children use their art as a way of communicating.

CHRISTINA: Yes, I definitely agree. And it's a place really where children can feel free to express their ideas. And their familiar with the artwork that Cindy has done and how wonderful it is to use children's art to display and to memorialize it for others.

CINDY: Now this is a public art piece. So how will it effect the children's self-esteem when they see their art out in the public?

CHRISTINA: Well I think the children will instantly realize that they were part something that was so special.

CHRISTINA: And all their projects really inspired this design so I think it is a fabulous way for them to realize that their artwork can make a difference. And that they have an opportunity to collaborate with an artist on such a wonderful cause.

CINDY: This bear will be auctioned off in the fall (2006) for the BC Lions Society and will go to children in need.
